Brighton ELC and Brighton Beach ELC believe that learning about sustainability begins with everyday practice. Both centres actively participate in looking after the environment by promoting sustainable practices through positive role modelling from teachers and the education of our children. Opportunities for children to directly explore the importance of sustainable practices is paramount for them to understand the impact we all have on the world in which we live.
Sustainable practices are woven throughout the children’s daily routines and their daily experiences within the centre, and we are always looking for ways in which we can minimise our impact on the environment. We are very fortunate to have spaces within both centres where we can have vegetable gardens, compost areas, herb gardens, and areas for children to investigate different plants and natural materials.
