Free Kindergarten Program
At Brighton Early Learning Centre, we offer a Four-year-old Kindergarten Program in our Bundjil Eagle Room which is implemented by a Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teacher and supported by a diploma qualified Assistant educator. In the Bundjil Room, children’s interests and strengths are supported and we guide the play-based program implemented in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments.
The educators in the Bundjil Room support the children to develop their confidence to explore the environment and participate in group discussions, their social skills to create and extend friendships, their resilience through identifying and articulating their emotions as well developing their cognitive skills through problem-solving activities.
A play-based curriculum allows children to be introduced to numeracy, literacy, science and creative arts in an enjoyable way, encouraging them to be life-long learners supporting a smooth transition to their first year of school. We also offer a range of extra-curricular programs involving music and movement, yoga and sport in preparation for primary school classes which also support the development of gross motor skills.
Regular outings with the children including visiting the local library, art gallery and aged care facility, as well as the recent implementation of a Bush-kinder program, allow us to explore and make links with our community. The children also receive the opportunity to participate in the Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) Program, where they will be learning Chinese (Mandarin).
When developing a high-quality program, we utilise the Early Years Learning Framework and Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. Our program delivery is also compliant with the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics, the National Quality Framework and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
